Mera Peak

Mera Peak is the highest permitted trekking peak of Nepal. It stands to the south of Everest and dominates the watershed between the heavily wooded valleys of the Hinku and Hongu Drangkas. J.O.M. Roberts and Sen Tenzing made the first successful ascent on 20 May 1953. Mera Peak Climbing, The trek starts from Kathmandu with a drive to Jiri and a trek to Lukla at 2800m. This is a good way to begin as it helps develop physical fitness and is excellent for altitude acclimatization. But most of the people take a flight to Lukla and stay there overnight.

Crossing the Zatra-La pass the trek is very steep but the reward is a view of Cho Oyu, the world's 6th highest mountain and the Numbur Himal. From Chatrabu, walk about two hours and get the best view of Mera's South, Central and North peaks. Mera Peak Climb goes throw the bamboo forest, rhododendron and pine Trees.
Kothe is small place at the Hinku khola. From kothe where the trekking is easier to Khare Base Camp, at 5000m. Mera High camp is 5800m and great views of Everest and other peaks.

Climbing Mera Peak is not technical from the normal north route and Mera Peak provides one of the finest viewpoints in Nepal, with a panoramic view of Chamlang, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Mt. Everest, Lhotse and Mt. Cho Oyu.Click Here for More Photo...

Day 03 : Early morning flight to Lukla (2800m) Overnight in Lodge.
Day 04 : Lukla to Chutenga (3350m) Camp.
Day 05 : Chutenga to over Zatrela pass overnight at Chatrarbu (4340m)
Day 06 : Chatrabu to Kothe (3700m) Camp.
Day 07 : Kothe to Thagnak (4356m) Camp.
Day 08 : Thanak Rest for Acclimatization Camp.
Day 09 : Thanak to Khare (4900m) Camp.
Day 10 : Khare to Mera La (5200m) For Glacier training & back to khare
Day 11 : Khare to Mera High Camp (5800m) Camp.
Day 12 : High Camp to Mera Summit (6421m) & return back to Khare
Day 13 : Khare to Kothe Camp (3700m) Camp.
Day 14 : Kothe to Chatrabu Camp (4340m) Camp.
Day 15 : Chatrabu to Lukla overnight in Lodge (2800m) Lodge.
Day 16 : Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel.
Day 17 : Kathmandu/sightseeing/shopping.
Day 18 : Transfer to International Airport and fly home.

This is one of the challenging trekking routes in Nepal. You pass through Hongu (wild) Valley between two highest mountains Makalu and Everest, there are many Lakes. You will cross one of the highest pass Amphulapcha (5800m).Amalapcha pass offer you spectacular view of Hungu valley, chamlang, Makalu, Barunse, Everest and Lhotse.

Day 12 : Mera High Camp to Mera Summit (6421m) & return back to Rato Odar (5100m) Camp.
Day 13 : Rato Ordar to Chamlang Base Camp (4700m) Camp.
Day 14 : Chamlang Seto Pokhari (4900m).
Day 15 : Seto Pokhari to Amphulapcha Base Camp (5200m) Camp.
Day 16 : Base Camp to over pass (5800m) camp in Chukung Valley Camp.
Day 17 : Chukung Valley to Island Peak High Camp (5500m) Camp.
Day 18 : island peak Summit (6189m) overnight in Base Camp.
Day 19 : Base Camp to Dingboche (4300m) overnight in Lodge.
Day 20 : Dingboche to Tangboche (3800m) overnight in Lodge.
Day 21 : Tangboche to Namche (3446m)/Monjo (2800m) O/N in Lodge.
Day 22 : Namche to Lukla (2800m) overnight in Lodge.
Day 23 : Flight to Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel.
